North West Meetings & Conferences | South Africa

From Sun City resort and the Pilanesberg and Madkiwe game reserves, to the Taung Heritage site and Hartbeespoort Dam, the North West has much to offer meeting delegates in the way of meeting facilties and pre- and-post tours. The North West province offers wonderful opportunities for adventure.

The North West province is South Africa's 'Platinum Province' (80% of the world's platinum comes from there). It offers great variety when it comes to meetings and business tourism activities. It is also the agricultural epicentre of South Africa and tourism is a major drawcard.

Sun City resort, Africa's world-renowned conference, casino and entertainment complex, offers some of the best North West province meetings venues. It has facilities for 6 000 delegates plus a host of accommodation and entertainment options that include superb golf courses.

Adjacent to Sun Sity is the Big 5 Pilanesberg Game Reserve, which offers several meeting options. Bakubung Bush Lodge in the reserve can cater for 120 conference delegates and offers Big 5 game viewing, guided walks and game drives. The nearby Kwa Maritane Bush Lodge can cater for 264 delegates and offers Big 5 game viewing, an underground hide, guided walks, game drives and a rock climbing wall.

The 5-star Tau Game Lodge in the malaria-free Madikwe Game Reserve is a 2008 World Luxury Hotel Award finalist and has its own convention centre catering for 120 delegates and luxurious spa facilities.

For a more exclusive North West meetings and safari experience, the 5-star Thaba Phuti Safari Lodge near Rustenberg offers 7 rooms and conferencing for 18 guests. Team building experiences include silhouette shooting, clay pigeon shooting, black powder gun shooting and tree canopying. Scenic golf courses are a stone's throw away. In towns like Brits, Broederstroom and Mmabatho you'll find convention and conference centres catering for small, medium and large conferences.

And when your meeting is done, why not take a hot air balloon ride over the Pilanesberg. The Magaliesberg mountain range is a great place for hiking, mountain bike trails and birdwatching and the nearby Hartebeespoort Dam is known for its water sports and relaxed atmosphere.

For something a little different, walk in the footsteps of one of South Africa’s literary giants, Herman Charles Bosman, as you follow his trail to Groot Marico. Alternatively, history buffs will enjoy the sights, sounds and stories found in Mafikeng.
